The Haunting in Connecticut Review
Starring: Virgina Madsen as "Sara" and Kyle Gallner as "Matt"

Premise: THIC is about a teenage boy Matt (Gallner) who has been struggling with terminal cancer. His overly-protective (and rightly so) mother Sara (Madsen) decides that driving all the way from their house to Connecticut every night isn't good for him or the rest of the family. She starts looking for another place to rent closer to the hospital, much to the dismay of her husband, until Matt's chemo treatments are done. What she doesn't realize is that the house that she finally decides to rent is haunted.

Review: The Haunting in Connecticut was the best scary movie I've seen this year, which isn't saying much comparing it to The Orphan and Friday The 13th, but still even saying it was good is a great thing for me. I'm a horror movie fanatic and I've been desensitized greatly from all of the stuff I've seen in movies and on the news. THIC provided a few jumps and a few moments that caused me to want to look over my shoulders, but nothing too exceptional. For the most part it was still a pretty good movie though. The end got kind of silly however, seeing all those actors surround Matt (Gallner) in those fake looking mummified outfits almost made me laugh, they could have left that out. My best friend however, was a nervous wreck sitting beside me. He hates horror movies and hates anything to do with seances even more. He also argued that I should've been 'more scared' because it was 'based on a true story' until I had to explain that when Hollywood says something is based on a true story it usually isn't, especially in the horror genre. But all in all I would recommend it, it's enjoyable. (That is, if you're not into overly criticizing movies you should enjoy it.)
